Original oil with gloss varnish finish on board of fisherman at sunrise (or sunset) on the bayou.  There are some barely visible imperfections to the gloss finish near the top of the piece - see close up image.  Piece is framed (see some separation to the frame).  Bryant Galleries tag on the back of the piece (they had galleries in New Orleans, Birmingham and Jackson).  Painting is 7.75" x 10"...frames it is 10.5" x 12".  

Marcel Stockmans was born in Belgium in 1936.  He lived in Lafayette, MS until his death in 2009.  He was know for a primitive style of painting - often featuring images of slaves/slavery.
