Midcentury Rosenthal China Sunburst Dinner Service for 12 by Raymond Loewy

Monumental dinner service.  Rosenthal Continental Sunburst Pattern.  Designed by Raymond Loewy. Loewy was regraded as the most important Industrial designer in US history.  This is one of several patterns he designed for Rosenthal....and one of the most lovely patterns.  Modern and timeless more than 60 years after it first went into production.

Thin, delicate cool white porcelain with 2 sunbursts; one in a shimmery gold and the other in silver.  No cracks, chips or crazing.  These - although vintage - were rarely if ever used.  They are in excellent condition. 101 pieces in all, they include:

12 dinner plates

12 salad plates

12 bread plates

12 fruit bowls

12 cream soup bowls (the double handled bowls) with 12 saucers

12 coffee cups with 12 saucers

1 coffee pot, 1 creamer and one sugar bowl with lid

1 15" serving platter
